Hiroshi Nakata

Mr. Nakata is the former Board Director, CFO and Head of Corporate Strategy of Yoshimoto Kogyo, Ltd, Japan’s largest talent agency and most prolific producer of television content.  In his position at Yoshimoto, Mr. Nakata engineered a $560 Million take-private of the 100 year old company in November of 2009.  

He also played a leading role in establishing new businesses for Yoshimoto Kogyo using new media and platforms, including Fandango, Inc., casTY, and Bellrock Media. In regards to Bellrock Media, Inc., he served as founder and CEO.

Prior to Yoshimoto Kogyo, he was with The Long Term Credit Bank of Japan, in charge of M&A operations for the entertainment industry. 

Most recently, Mr. Nakata has served as the Chairman of the Board of KeepTree, Inc. since 2011. In his role as Chairman of KeepTree he has guided the company to success in both operations and financing, including leading Series A financing rounds from major companies, including Dentsu, Inc. and Faith, Inc., among others.

Mr. Nakata is a CPA and holds an MBA from the Thunderbird School of Global Management.


Jon Loew

Jon has a 25 year track record in media, technology and security - and where these industries collide. 

Until joining AppGuard as its CEO in September of 2017, Jon served as the CEO of KeepTree, Inc, the secure video technology company he founded in 2011. KeepTree's patented technology allows users to send and receive private and secure video messages to other users now, or in the future. As CEO of KeepTree, Jon has established partnerships with various high profile companies including Sony, Dentsu, World Wrestling Entertainment, Bloomingdales, and others. KeepTree also supports parts of the U.S. military by providing ultra-secure communication services to deployed personnel. KeepTree was acquired by Blue Planet-works, Inc in 2017.

Since 2009, Jon has served as Chairman of Big Media Holdings, a leading producer and distributor of entertainment content. Big Media has offices in New York, London, Prague, Kuala Lumpur and Milan, and serves broadcasters on every continent. Notable clients include Netflix, ITV Studios, DirecTV, National Geographic Channels, Discovery Networks, and hundreds of others. 

Jon is a partner and member of the Executive Committee of Intellitech International, a global security advisory firm with strong expertise in Counter Terrorism, Intelligence, Border Control, and combating Organized Crime. He is also active with various philanthropic organizations involved in issues ranging from Supporting the U.S. military, rescuing animals, and providing food for the hungry.

Jon graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1993, and from Brooklyn Law School in 1998.

Neal Conlon

Neal Conlon is a mission driven Marine veteran. Post military service, Neal has developed a background in technology, process, and people.

Neal’s range of industries has provided him exposure to business models, compliance frameworks, technology architecture, and security.

At Appguard Neal serves as a Vice President of business development and is dedicated to ensuring clients and partners are successful in protecting their business, mitigating risk, and doing it in a meaningful way.

Neal’s focus is to listen to a person’s concerns and problem statement and engage with them in a way that will solve the problem and add value to the conversation.

Prior to Appguard, Neal was Sales Director at Plurilock, a behavioral monitoring startup with a focus on insider threat. In addition, Neal has worked for companies that include Morgan Stanley, Guggenheim Partners, and Cushman Wakefiled.

Fatih Comlekoglu, PhD.

Prior to the Blue Planet-works,Inc. acquisition of the AppGuard product line, Dr. Comlekoglu served as the Chief Software Architect of Blue Ridge Networks, Inc., where he invented the core technology of AppGuard.

As a visionary, with a wealth of enterprise service and IT operational experience, Dr. Comlekoglu architected and led the implementation of Blue Ridge’s key product lines in new generation antimalware defense, secure enterprise access over untrusted networks, and virtualized workspace.

Dr. Comlekokglu served as a lead system architect at MCI Communications, as a lead software architect at StorageTek, and a senior consultant at the World Bank Enterprise Computing group.

Dr. Comlekoglu holds two US patents for antimalware defense and applied cryptography in distributed systems both of which are utilized in AppGuard.

Dr. Comlekoglu received a BS in Computer Science, and holds a MS in Computer Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science from George Washington University.

Barbara Cline

As Vice President of Engineering for AppGuard LLC, Barbara Cline draws on more than 20 years of product development management experience with the proven ability to build engineering teams to deliver products to meet both schedule and revenue goals.  Prior to becoming Vice President, Ms. Cline was Vice President of Engineering at Blue Ridge where she led the development of the award-winning end-point security AppGuard product as well as the Blue Ridge VPN Client.  In addition, she established Agile Programming Development Practices for the Blue Ridge Engineering team. 

Before joining Blue Ridge Networks, Ms. Cline worked as a Project Engineer at Simtec, developing submarine and flight trainers.  She started her engineering career at IBM as a software engineer where she won multiple bonuses for her technical contributions.

Ms. Cline holds a BS in Mathematics from University of Maryland in College Park, Md.

Michael Shelton

Michael is a successful entrepreneur and marketing leader, having started his first ecommerce company directly out of college and continuing to take marketing leadership positions in several companies ranging from consumer goods, technology, SAAS platforms and online gaming.

He has over 20 years experience in both B2B and B2C marketing, having successfully built and mentored several marketing teams. He takes a hands-on approach to creating, executing and growing a successful marketing strategy with a focus on aggressive customer acquisition. He has successfully created and grown active user bases and product categories from scratch as well as expanded and driven significant growth to existing revenue streams. He is an expert at implementing, scaling and optimizing all digital marketing channels, from campaign creation, management and performance analysis, including SEO, SEM/PPC, Social, Lead Generation, Affiliate, Email, PR, Business Development, Content, Customer Database mining, Mobile & Retargeting.

Michael holds a BS in Business and Finance from University of North Carolina at Wilmington.


Brody Ehrlich

Prior to the founding of AppGuard and the acquisition of KeepTree, Inc. by Blue Planet-works, Inc., Mr. Ehrlich served first as Director of Business Development and then as General Manager of KeepTree, Inc. Over his tenure at KeepTree and AppGuard, he has been instrumental in many areas of corporate administration. At KeepTree, he developed and facilitated multiple programs for military outreach, partnership development, financial forecasting and budgeting – and led the development of KeepTree’s Vift platform from a simple idea to a working consumer platform and retail tool (including recruiting marquee clients). At AppGuard, he manages all administrative aspects of the business, including financial forecasting and budgeting, accounting, human resources, legal compliance, contract drafting and review, and various operations elements.  

Mr. Ehrlich graduated cum laude from Cornell University with a Bachelors of Science in Applied Economics and Management, concentrating in Finance. He also earned a Juris Doctorate and graduated cum laude from Cardozo Law School, where he was a Monrad Paulson scholar (which included, among other things, a full tuition scholarship).  Mr. Ehrlich is a licensed attorney admitted to the bar in both New York and New Jersey.

Maitland Muse

Maitland has more than 27 years of experience in the Telecom industry holding leadership positions in both Wireless and Wireline segments.  He has a strong history of success in sales, sales leadership, business development, marketing, IoT and advanced network solution.

In Maitland’s most recent role as Executive Director, Channels & Alliances for Syniverse, he was responsible for expanding the partner ecosystem and advancing the portfolio for IoT and secured connectivity engagements.  Prior to that role Maitland held a leadership position with Orange Business Services in which he led the orchestration of advanced network solution development and service integration efforts for large multinationals covering SD WAN, Unified Communications and  IoT.

Maitland is a graduate of Rutgers University with BA in Economics and holds an MBA from Centenary University.  In addition, Maitland has a Mini MBA in Mobile Marketing.  During Maitland’s career he has worked for MCI, Global Crossing, T-Systems and Verizon, where he spent 12 years in a variety of leadership positions in both Verizon and Verizon Wireless.

Mark Kelton

Mark Kelton is the Director of MEK & Associates and a retired senior Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) executive with 34 years of experience in intelligence operations. Mr. Kelton’s career included more than sixteen years of overseas service, to include four assignments in key CIA field leadership positions. 

He concluded his career as Deputy Director of the National Clandestine Service for Counterintelligence (DDNCS/CI), one of the most senior ranking positions in the Clandestine Service.  Directing CIA’s counterintelligence and counterespionage programs, Mr. Kelton led the team that protected the nation’s most closely guarded secrets.  Mr. Kelton has comprehensive expertise in intelligence operations, international security issues, detection of insider threats, assessment of counterintelligence risk, and crisis management.

Mike Rogers

Mike Rogers is a former member of Congress, officer in the Army, and FBI Special Agent. In the U.S. House he chaired the Intelligence Committee, Becoming a leader on cybersecurity and national security policy, and overseeing the 17 intelligence agencies’ $70 billion budget.

Today Mike is a CNN national security commentator, and hosts and produces CNN’s “Declassified.” He sits on the board of IronNet Cybersecurity and MITRE Corporation and advises Next Century Corporation and Trident Capital. He has advised Corp 500 companies on cybersecurity, technology, and global affairs and is a frequent national speaker. He is Distinguished Fellow and Trustee at Center for the Study of the Presidency and Congress, and a Senior Fellow at Harvard University.”

Stanton Anderson

Stanton Anderson has served as Senior Counsel to the President and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce since 1997. He was a partner at the law firm McDermott Will & Emery until he resigned in February 2008. During his time at McDermott Will & Emery, he also served as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He also oversaw the National Chamber Litigation Center, the public policy legal arm of the Chamber: the Institute for Legal Reform, a Chamber affiliate dedicated to restoring fairness, efficiency, and consistency to the U.S. civil justice system; and the Chamber's Office of General Counsel.

His involvement in national political affairs began in 1972 when he managed the Republican convention of that year. In 1976, he served as convention manager for President Gerald Ford; and in 1980, he served as Counsel to the Reagan-Bush Campaign. He served in the White House during the Nixon administration and as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Congressional Relations under Henry Kissinger. He received a number of Presidential appointments, including the President’s Advisory Committee on Trade Negotiations and the Presidential Commission on Personnel Interchange and chaired the U.S. delegation to the United Nations Conference on New and Renewable Energy Resources in 1981.

Anderson graduated from Westmont College, and he received his law degree from Willamette University where he was a member of the Law Review. We determined that Anderson should serve on our board of trustees because of his significant financial and legal experience, prior service as a member of the board of directors of other public companies, and his familiarity with business policy.

Robert Y. Bigman

Robert Bigman retired from Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), after serving a thirty year distinguished career.  Recognized as a pioneer in the field of classified information protection, Mr. Bigman developed technical measures and procedures to manage the nation’s most sensitive secrets.  As an information security trailblazer, Mr. Bigman participated in developing security measures for Government computers well before commercial industry found the Internet.  He then developed creative solutions to allow the CIA to use the Internet to further its mission without exposure.  With twenty-five years of experience, Mr. Bigman worked in every area of information and data security, the last fifteen years as the Agency's Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). As the Agency CISO, Mr. Bigman managed a large organization of technical and program officers responsible for the protection of all Agency information.

Mr. Bigman is now an independent consultant and works with U.S. Government, foreign governments and the top 50 Fortune corporations, helping them both build productive cyber security programs and successfully resist attacks from the most sophisticated hackers.

Nobuyuki Idei

Nobuyuki Idei is founder and chief executive officer of Quantum Leaps Corporation, a specialist consultancy that advises private and public institutions on the changing role of technology in the 21st century.

Nobuyuki Idei was chairman and chief executive officer of Sony Corporation from 2000 to 2005, chief corporate advisor from 2005 to 2007 and chairman of the advisory board from 2007 to 2012.

Prior to that, Nobuyuki Idei held a range of leadership positions at Sony including general manager of the audio division, senior general manager of the home video group, and president and representative director.

Nobuyuki Idei has also served in a number of other advisory positions including as counselor to the Bank of Japan, member of Japan’s national IT Strategy Council, and vice chairman of Nippon Keidanren.

Nobuyuki Idei received a bachelor of science degree in economics and politics from Waseda University in Tokyo.

Being an experienced director, Nobuyuki Idei currently also serves as director of Accenture, director of FreeBit Co, Ltd., director of Lenovo Group and chairman of the National Conference on Fostering Beautiful Forests in Japan.

Nobuyuki Idei is also founder and chairman of the board of Asia Innovators’ Initiative, a private non-profit organization which he established in 2011 to serve as a catalyst for social innovation in Asia by bringing together a diverse range of individuals and promoting knowledge sharing.

Chuck Brooks

Chuck Brooks is the Principal Market Growth Strategiest - Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies for General Dynamics Mission Systems. Chuck is also an Adjunct Faculty member at Georgetown University in their Applied Intelligence Program. LinkedIn named Chuck as one of "The Top 5 Tech People to Follow on LinkedIn" out of the 550 million members. He has also published more than 150 articles and blogs on cybersecurity and technology issues. In both 2017 and 2016, he was named "Cybersecurity Marketer of the Year" by the Cybersecurity Excellence Awards. 

Chuck's professional industry affiliations include being the Chairman of CompTIA's New and emerging Technology Committee, as a member of The AFCEA Cybersecurity Committee, and as a Technology Partner Advisor to The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. 

In government, Chuck has served at The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as the first Legislative Director of The Science & technology Directorate at the Department of Homeland Security. He served as a top advisor to the late Senator Arlen Specter on Capitol Hill covering security and technology issues on Capitol Hill. 

Maj. General Mark A. Volcheff, USAF, Ret.

Volcheff is president, HomeLand Security Solutions, LLC providing consulting services and business solutions to companies engaged in the homeland security, defense and commercial aviation/logistics markets.  Mark provides expertise across international ventures in a wide range of business areas to include critical infrastructure protection, border security, space communications, commercial aviation, RFID tracking technologies, military training, aerial firefighting, and aircraft/vehicle/weapons simulation technologies.  He previously served as President and CEO, U.S. Air Force Academy Endowment, a non-profit, securing the private donor and corporate philanthropic gifts to enhance the leadership and character development and cadet experiences at the Academy. 

Prior to assuming these duties, Mr Volcheff served over 32 years in the United States Air Force as a pilot, staff officer and commander, and he retired as a Major General. His last assignment on active duty was as the Director of Plans, Policy, Strategy and Theater Security Cooperation for both headquarters NORAD, and the U.S. Northern Command.

Mark is a 1975 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy and has been a resident of Colorado since 2005.

Prior to the Blue Planet-works, Inc. acquisition of the AppGuard product line, Mike Fumai served as President, COO and Director of Blue Ridge Networks, Inc., the originator of the AppGuard technology.

Fumai draws on more than 25 years of experience with Fortune 2000 corporations in the communications and technology industry to set the company’s strategic direction and drive revenue growth. Prior to being appointed President and COO, Fumai spearheaded Blue Ridge Networks direct sales efforts and directed the expansion of the company’s channel program as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Before joining Blue Ridge Networks, Fumai was Senior Vice President, Global Sales, for Cyveillance, a provider of online risk monitoring and management solutions. Prior to Cyveillance, Fumai served as Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales and Channels at Commerce One/Appnet, (now Perfect Commerce) and he spent 14 years at MCI in various positions including Executive Director, Strategic Services.

Fumai holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

Eduard is Co-Founder, and Chairman of the Management Board at National Institute for Research of Innovative Technologies focused on the exploration of new digital technologies based on AI for private and administration buildings, smart cities and big data analysis and processing.

Petr served many years as Security and System Architect designing and implementing security services and systems. Later he also became active in research and development of secure authentication technologies and cyber-identity ecosystems.

Petr provided security reviews, audits, risk assessments, forensic investigation and other security relevant counseling and advisory services for clients from financial, pharmaceutical, legal, logistics industry as well as for IT service providers and for government institutions.

Petr, thanks to his large experience with cyber protection, emphasizes new visions and more efficient approaches to cyber resilience, privacy, and data protection.

John B. Higginbotham

Advisory Board


John Higginbotham brings over three decades of high technology executive leadership to Blue Ridge Networks as its Chairman and CEO. He also serves as manager of the USVC investment facility as well as Advisory Board Chairman of IronGate Capital Advisors fund-of-funds investment facility. Formerly he was a co-founder and senior managing partner of SpaceVest Capital, a co-founder and senior executive of International Technology Underwriters (Intec), and the product manager for HP’s first microcomputers. He has served on several public and private company Board of Directors and has supported professional and community service organizations throughout his career. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
