AppGuard Defeats "WannaCry" Ransomware

On Friday, May 12, 2017 the WannaCry ransomware cryptoworm attack began. Within one day it had infected more than 230,000 computers in over 150 countries. Major government organizations and corporations around the world were breached, including Britain’s National Health Service, FedEx, and Telefonica.  The cyberattack targeted computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system by encrypting data and demanding ransom payments via Bitcoin cryptocurrency.

Businesses and Organizations running AppGuard’s preventative technology could not be breached. Even if their Microsoft Windows operating system was out of date, AppGuard prevented the attack from breaching all endpoint systems installed with its solution. In order to demonstrate how the technology effectively defeats WannaCry, AppGuard released the following video showing the ransomware attempting to infect a system and how AppGuard successfully prevents the attack. The video can be viewed here: AppGuard Defeats “WannaCry” Ransomware.

Most businesses and organizations are ill-prepared for what cyberattacks may be coming next and many are still recovering from the WannaCry attack.  Proactive solutions and strategies are not effective with traditional virus protection solutions when the threats are not yet known. AppGuard’s patented technology assures systems are protected against all threats and is the only security product in the marketplace that is currently undefeated by any kind of malware.
